CITY OF LONDON LAUNCHES CABWATCH - 27TH SEPTEMBER 2005

 

Leading representatives from the City of London Police were present to officially launch the City of London CabWatch scheme on 27th September 2005. The scheme replicates the successful system already active in a number of London Boroughs, enabling licensed Taxi drivers to receive and relay information to and from the Police in the event of criminal activity, or other matters relating to public safety. The technology and infrastructure used is identical to that powering the various Priority Alert schemes around the U.K., allowing communication via mobile phone, pager and email.

VOCAL BROADCAST 1/4m MOBILE MESSAGES DURING JULY 2005

 

During the course of July 2005, the Vocal Messaging System broadcast over 250,000 sms (mobile) messages from Police forces to city-centre businesses. Despite the massive uplift in mobile activity over the course of July 7th, 8th & 21st, the VMS was still delivering within near normal timescales.

NOTTINGHAM ALERT SCHEME OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED

 

The Nottingham Alert Scheme was officially launched on 28th February 2005, held at the Council House, Nottingham. Nottingham Police, Council, and other public organisations were in attendance, alongside leading members of Nottingham's business community.

 

GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE LAUNCH BOLTON ALERT

 

Greater Manchester Police & Vocal - Vocal & Greater Manchester Police are pleased to announce the official launch date of the the Bolton Alert Scheme. From 3rd December 2004 businesses within Bolton will be able to receive messages in the same manner as existing subscribers from other 'live' cities.

 

POLICE TO CONDUCT LIVE TEST OF LEEDS EMERGENCY ALERT SCHEME

 

West Yorkshire Police & Vocal - There is to be a live test on the responses to the Leeds Alert Scheme scheduled for late September. The test will be broadcast to all subscribers to the Leeds Alert scheme, and a request will be made for all recipients to call into a response line and answer a short questionnaire. The date of the Leeds test will be confirmed through the platform nearer the time. It is politely requested that all subscribers email customerservices@vocal.co.uk to acknowledge this release.

 

KINGSTON CABWATCH TO LAUNCH

 

Vocal & Metropolitan Police (Kingston) - Due to the rapidly growing interest in Vocal's communication solutions, the Metropolitan Police have decided to replicate the already successful Bromley Cabwatch Scheme in Kingston.The service will operate in exactly the same manner as its sister scheme in Bromley. More Cabwatch schemes are set to launch in the coming months.

 

VOCAL LAUNCHES NEW PRIORITY ALERT WEBSITE

 

Due to the continued expansion of the Vocal Priority Alert Service on a national level, Vocal have introduced a single website to detail each city scheme that has been launched, and provide a resource for information regarding current and future services. The web site replaces London (www.pageralert.co.uk), Manchester (www.manchesterpriorityalert.co.uk), Bristol (www.bristolalert.co.uk), and Leeds (www.leedsalert.co.uk)

 

HOME SECRETARY LAUNCHES SHEFFIELD ALERT SCHEME 16th July 2004

 

South Yorkshire Police & Vocal - Home Secretary Rt Hon David Blunkett MP launched the Vocal Sheffield Alert Scheme during a conference held at The Lyceum Theatre. BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH VOCAL- 1st May 2004

 

British Transport Police & Vocal - Chief Inspector Brian Gosden officially launched the British Transport Police (BTP) in May 2004, the system which compliments the existing City of London Police enables the rapid broadcast of messages direct from the BTP control room to subscribers. The system enables companies to receive real-time information of security threats and incidents in and around Tube and Train Stations.

 

MISSING CHILD FOUND VIA VOCAL BROMLEY CABWATCH

 

Bromley Cabwatch was launched in September 2003. On the 17th June 2004, a 14 year old child went missing from home in the early hours of the morning. Bromley Police initiated a broadcast message through the Bromley Cab Watch System, and within minutes a passing Taxi driver spotted the child and called the Police.
